Looking Forward to Seeing You at Worship This Week and Weekend!
MAUNDY THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 7:15 PM
Probably the fullest night of Jesus' life. Washed his disciple's feet, shared a meal, predicted his betrayal, shared the last supper (Holy Communion) for the first time, went out to pray, was kissed by his betrayer, was arrested, and even his closest disciples deserted him.
At worship we'll hear part of the story, delve into what it means to experience "healing,", share communion, and then end the service with the dramatic stripping of the Altar to symbolize how Jesus himself was stripped that night.
GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 14, 8:00 PM
This is the day that Jesus died on the cross. At the time of his death we are told that darkness covered the whole earth and that the temple curtain was torn in two. Many people mocked him as he hung on the cross. While there he forgave a prisoner who hung beside him and entrusted his mother Mary to one of his disiples.
At worship we will extinguish one candle and light at a time as we hear 10 different parts of the story of his final days. The service ends in total darkness and is one of the most treasured services of the year for many people.
EASTER SATURDAY and SUNDAY, APRIL 15-16
Easter is when Jesus rose from the dead, just as he promised. With that one great move, the power of death is destroyed and hope springs eternal for all who are connected through faith in him. It's the biggest day of the year for Christians.
We celebrate Easter at little early at Zion, beginning with our 5:00 pm Contemporary service on Saturday night. We also celebrate with each traditional service on Sunday morning (8:30 or 10:45). All services will include uplifting music. the 10:45 service will also include music from our find Handbell Choir. All services this weekend include a message especially for kids from Pastor Kent.
We hope to see you there!

Former Zion Intern, Cindy Ritter, was Ordained into the ministry of Word and Sacrament (the Lutheran way of saying she will be a pastor) on Saturday, January 18th at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Toledo at 10:30 a.m. Intern Cindy is kneeling in the picture above just as gathered clergy are preparing for the laying on of hands. She has been called to serve as Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Findlay, OH. Almost 30 Zion members attended the event. Pastor Kent served as the Assisting Minister, George Carrington read one of the lessons, a nice group of Zion members sang in the combined choir, Zion's SOAR team joined with Stony Ridge's team to sing the prologue, and Diana Schneider baked the Communion Bread. For a very nice gallary of pictures from the event, click HERE (note: you might need to have a Facebook account to view the pictures).
“Between the Weekends” are 5 days of LIFE – with all its pleasures and pressures, cheerfulness and challenges, delights and demands. The first topic is entitled: "How to Love People You Don't Like."
